Conference Venue

The conference will take place at the University of York, located in the outskirts of the city of York Since its inception in 1963, the University has achieved a consistent top ranking in the UK and is one of just a few post-war universities to make the World Top 100. The University is among institutions from six nations that feature in the world’s top 10 reaffirming York’s international reputation for excellence in research, teaching, knowledge transfer and global outlook. This latest accolade, coinciding with the University’s recent invitation to join the Russell Group, confirms the University’s enormous impact in teaching, research and engagement in less than 50 years.

Seminars and workshops will take place at the Ron Cooke Hub, located in the new Heslington East Campus. The Hub is a £20million, 7000 sq ft ‘melting pot’ for engagement. Its design encourages discussion and interaction, bringing people together across disciplines and sectors, from within and outside the university, providing space for new, value-adding ideas and partnerships to blossom.

How to get to York

By plane
York is in easy travelling distance of four international airports – Leeds/Bradford, Manchester, Humberside and Robin Hood Doncaster/Sheffield.
The closest airport is Leeds/Bradford, connected to Leeds Railway Station by the 757. From Leeds train station wthere are frequent trains to York.
From Manchester International Airport, frequent Transpennine trains provide the city with a direct round the clock link.

By train
Getting to York by train is very easy as the city is one of the most important railway nodes of Northern England. From London the average journey time is under two hours while Edinburgh is only two and a half hours. Other direct services are available from Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and the South West.

By car
Situated midway between Edinburgh and London, York is within comfortable driving times of most regions in the UK: just 20 minutes from the M1/M62 motorway network. There are five Park & Ride sites currently operating in York, which gives you the opportunity to visit the city without the need to look for a parking space.
